(T)Axing Me

It is nice to see election promises coming to effect (Check Source). But why should the rice scheme come to effect on the CM's birthday? For heaven's sake, my contribution as tax is more in that scheme than his! Ok, I guess that’s just my frustration coming out. After having paid a cool amount as tax every month last year, I still lost the whole of my March month's salary. To make things worse, 1/3rd of my April month's pay was deducted as tax spill over. May be that justifies my negative feelings on hearing politicians announcing freebies as though it comes out of their own pocket.

Adaane paathen..But surely Jammy,U didn't expect Karunanidhi to fulfill his extravagant ,sorry exhorbitant promises from the income of his 450-odd houses or shares in suntv or his bank balances?

Jammy- if i were you, i wouldnt crib about my money going in taxes if all these schemes are to be executed fairly. I think I am responsible for the poor in my country. I can understand if you are suspicious about their execution, though.

I have very high regards for the principles of communism and socialism- not necessarily for the communists and socialists...

Ram..can relate to ur thoughts,but our hard-earned money in corrupt politicians'hands is hardly a welcome thought..it's necessary that the government feels as responsible to the taxpayers and gives a precise report on how their money is being spent..
the principles of socialism ideally projects an utopian society where economic equality is the norm..it is a distant dream until the officials and politicians running the govt come out clean..we,as taxpayers would have to demand this..

MJ- agree with you in full. So, the botheration should really be that the money is not being used for its intended purpose rather than the fact that we are paying a huge amount in tax. do u concur?

@Ram
My exasperation arises out of the usage of my tax money and not directly on paying it. I too wish the pover would be served better, but am not supportive of providing TVs to supposedly increase their satisfaction levels. There are more basic needs to be addressed.
And yeah, you do sound preachy.

yup- agreed. TV is ridiculous. but i dont think rice for 2 rupees is...nor the waiving of loans.

all my above comments are just my opinions...reiterating "if i were you".

sorry again for sounding preachy. not the intention.

Agree with Jammy,if this money were to be used for establishing industries and increasing jobs and econi=omic development for the rural and urban poor,settlements,basic amenitites,schools or hospitals..i am sure nobody will complain..
yes,ram..it is the usage.the unfairness of it all when we work hard and our money goes for luxury cars and bullet proof vehices and security and luxury most vulgar and accumulation of wealth,real estate,etc for generations of politicians..we got to ask..start asking..somewhere..every tax payer shud know what the govt is doing with his money..
